Let's Try This

What we have here is my computer hardware setup. I've been using the laptop since I got it in April. About 6 weeks ago, it randomly started shutting itself off - from working screen to black screen instantly - ANNOYING! Now, to the right of the laptop is my awesome new Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet that Santa brought me for Christmas - a device I am in LOVE with, makes Photoshop work like a dream, among other things. (For those of you who don't know, this is a device that replaces the mouse, and makes precise movements possible.) But since I got the tablet, the random shutoffs have happened even more.

So, Santa went online and did a web search, and came up with the theory that the shutoffs could be caused by the laptop not cooling enough. This could be caused by the fact that I use it on my lap (laptop, right? DUH!) or on my bedspread, so there's really no ventilation. So I've come up with this solution - this pink tray (which clashes horribly with my red couch) which I can put on my lap with the laptop on top of it. So far the test is working, no shutoffs in the 2 hours I've been doing this. So keep your fingers crossed, and I'll keep you posted.

I've posted 2 more layouts to the Art Journal Caravan at Scrapbook Graphics that I'll share with you here.

The first one is about the word I have selected as my theme for the year, which is "write," I've already told you about that.

I really wanted to change my word, but there was just nothing else that fit, so that's what I wrote about on this page. I also put the cute little doll peeking out from behind the black border with the caption "Are you sure this is safe?" Lots of self-knowledge comes from writing, and that scares me - which is why I tried to change the word. But, I'm re-committed to writing as much as possible, everywhere I can.

Here's the next recently-posted layout. We were given the journal prompt of the verb "Process" to start us off, so that's what I used as the theme for this layout.

Jellie makes a cameo appearance on this layout with some sound advice.

Just 2 more days til my brothers and their wives arrive for Disney Marathon weekend! The plan at this point is that we will get together on Thursday night for dinner - which is also Santa's birthday! I hope to go to Celebration Town Tavern, which has the most amazing seafood on the planet.

We are signed up for a special spectator program called something like Disney ChEAR - it includes a resort-style waiting area with lots of amenities, reserved seating at the finish line and at points through the race where we can see our runners pass by. Of course, all this comes at a price, practically as much as the marathon itself! But watch for news and pictures after the race, I'll make it worth all of our while.

So now Santa and I are watching Glee (rerun, boo), Luckie is snuggled up next to me, and the laptop hasn't blacked out still. I'm planning on a chat at Scrapbook Graphics at 9 pm if I don't forget. And tomorrow's another day!

Love and peace to you all!
