Project 365 - Day 28

The ring in this picture is one that belonged to my grandfather. He wore it always, until he got his Masonic ring - not sure what time frame that was, Mom do you know? Anyway, it is at least 50 years old. He gave it to me to keep for Eric until he was old enough to wear it, and I gave it to Eric about 6 months ago. It resembles a class ring, but that's not what it is - the design on the silver part is not writing, just beautiful designs. The stone is a ruby, which is Eric's (and my) birthstone, although after talking to a jeweler, we are not sure if it's a real ruby or a synthetic one - we need to have it appraised by a gem appraiser. Either way, it is very much a family treasure, symbolic of great love, and it makes me so happy each time I see it on my son's finger. I know Papaw is smiling down upon him to know that he has it now. Eric was the first great-grandchild, and Papaw loved him so very much.

Peace and love to everyone!
