Seventeen years ago, right this very minute, I was nearing the final stages of labor. While I had a birth plan that requested that I receive no medications, I changed my mind...but my birth team convinced me to stay with my non-medicated plan.  By 9:36 I had delivered my beautiful daughter Rachel, weighing 10 pounds and 2 ounces and perfect in every way! This is one of the biggest accomplishments of my life, and I am happy for both her sake and mine that we had the birth that her dad and I had planned for her.

What have the last 17 years been like for me? The presence of such a beautiful spirit in my life has brought me such joy, such love, such laughter, and yes, a few tears. Rachel is an absolutely amazing young lady. In a world gone wrong, especially when it comes to the world our teens have to live in, Rachel stands strong as an inspiration to everyone around her. She's talented, smart, funny, and has a heart as big as the world, and she isn't afraid to show us all how much she loves us.

I know she is going to have an amazing future ahead of her, and I plan to be behind her all the way, cheering her on, letting her know she has my unconditional love.  And I know she will succeed beyond her wildest dreams.

Love you my sweet daughter! (Birthday pics to follow later)
